Congratulations
to Rebecca Pattillo, who on 25Oct06, successfully completed her
first 9 month ultra commonly referred to as pregnancy.
Coached on by Jason, Rebecca must have done pretty well as she
left the awards ceremony with a 7lb 10oz, 21" trophy they've
named "James". Days earlier, Ale Kennedy finished her 2nd?
of such ultra's taking home a prize weighing 6lb 14.5 oz, and
20" long. The Kennedy's have named this latest addition
"Jackson".
-
Congratulations
to the "Lady Jags" of Augusta State who took third place honors
in the Peach Belt Conference Cross Country Championship meet
(21Oct06) Lady Jag head coach (and
Augusta Strider) Adam
Ward was named Women's Coach of the Year.
-
Ken Dixon, Mike
Grady, Gary Moore, and Norris Beale ran the infamous Grandfather
Mountain Marathon on 8July06. All did really well.
(editors note: this
year was extra special in that due to a last minute course
change driven by road repairs on the Blue Ridge Parkway, the
course was more like 26.8 miles. That was nice)
- Gary won the St. Paul's 5k in Augusta
with a 17:11 (I think) (29Apr06)
(editors note:
not aware of any other Striders running this one)
- Norris won the masters division (4th
overall) in the Festival of Roses 12K (45:05) in Orangeburg, SC
(29Apr06).
(editors note:
great race, nice course, very well executed)
- Congrats & Best Wishes to Rebecca
Pattillo as she has embarked on a 9 month ultra marathon, "Coach Jason"
is providing lots of support along the course as he feels somewhat
responsible for getting her entered into this event.
- Striders took home a
few awards from the Triple Crown 10 miler, Aiken, SC (11Mar06)
Gary Moore was overall winner with 1:00:34

1:06:19
(our newest new member does us proud -
great job Mike!) Jason Pattillo took 1st place age group (30-34) with a
1:05:04. (also did a 5 mile
warmup and 5 mile cooldown prepping for Boston) Ken Dixon took 2nd place age group (35-39) with a
1:04:59.
(awesome run considering he felt like he was "pulling a
freight train" during the warmup) Michael Grady took 1st place age group (40-44) with a
1:04:55 (Mike wins "most improved" runner since Tybee) Tom Crute took 2nd place age group (40-44) with a

This is one very fast and very competitive race.
